I was with my best friend last night and we were discussing social media. We were discussing how Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram and all of the other social media tools have allowed us to become more connected.
I hear people discussing the use of tools that allow ones posts, ideas, thoughts, or other “content” to be scheduled.
Why? What’s the point? If that is what you want to do then send an email. Use telemarketers. Send a letter.
I know when I am with family and friends for a gathering, it is about having a conversation with the person or persons in front of me. It’s a verbal dance of ideas and emotions that go back and forth amongst all involved.
I don’t schedule an email to be sent to them just prior to walking up and saying hello.
Perhaps my content gets lost because I am not always out there. I am okay with that if it happens.
I prefer to have a story that provides some value and meaning to other people that are interested in what I have to say or share. I prefer my story to be missed by a few than to become noise to many.
Do you want your story to be missed or to be noise?
